Great ideas to get your dog involved in your wedding

At your dream wedding, you want to be surrounded by friends and people you love. But who is more loved than your dog?
Nowadays, pets are increasingly involved in weddings. Dogs, cats, horses or rabbits, they are all part of the family. In this blog, we focus on your faithful companion the dog, but these ideas are of course also possible with other pets! There are many ways to involve your pet in your wedding, for example by including them in the photo shoot or giving them the task of carrying the ring. Are you curious what other ways are there? Read on for original ideas on how to involve your dog in your big day!
Dress your dog in a festive way
If you are bringing your four-legged friend to your wedding, he or she should look just as well-groomed as the rest of the guests! Think bows and dinner jackets for the 'boys' and flowers and dresses for the 'girls'. If you don't want to dress up your dog fully, they can also make a statement with smaller accessories. Think of a flower collar for the 'girls' and a bow tie for the 'boys'. That way, your dog will look just as smart on your big day as the rest of us! And who doesn't like a four-legged friend in a bow tie?

Let your dog be the ring bearer
If you are willing to give your four-legged friend an important task at your wedding, let him be the ring bearer! For example, let your dog carry the rings in a beautifully decorated basket. Attaching the rings to his or her collar is also an option. Think carefully about whether your dog is prepared to perform the task with a lot of publicity.

Place your dog on the cake topper
If you would rather not have your pet on your big day, but would still like to include them, then this is a good idea for you. Put your pet as a cake topper on your wedding cake! You can ask the cake maker if the cake topper can be made in icing, but if you want to keep it as a memento, wood or clay is a better option. This is a very original idea, and a topper on the wedding cake really belongs. You don't see this often, and this way your pet will be there in spirit!

Cake & champagne for your dog
Would you like to treat your four-legged friend to cake and champagne on your big day? That is possible! There are dog cakes and dog champagne, made from ingredients that your pet can tolerate. Think for instance of apple sauce, banana and peanut butter for the cake, and champagne is often made of apple juice. A dog cake costs about 10 to 20 euros, and for the champagne you spend about 6 euros. So while you and your guests are enjoying a glass of champagne and a piece of cake, your pet can join in the fun.

Make your dog a videographer
This is perhaps one of the nicest roles you can give your dog at the wedding. You don't have to train your dog to do this, and you'll get great video footage out of it! All you need is a GoPro, and a harness or collar to which you can attach the GoPro. In this way, your dog will be able to capture beautiful images of the bride, groom and, of course, the guests. This is a very original idea, and will leave you with great images and memories.

Create your own signature cocktail
Although many bridal couples would like to include their dog in the wedding, this is not always possible. For example, some dogs cannot cope with the hustle and bustle of the wedding and so unfortunately cannot be present on the day itself. But there is a very nice alternative for that! Compose a cocktail with your favourite ingredients, and give the drink the name of your dog! By naming the signature cocktail after your dog, he will still be there in your mind the whole day.

Use a babysitter
Would you like to have your pet with you, but preferably not all day? Then this is the right solution for you! Let a pet sitter take your pet to the wedding for a short visit. Exactly on this day it is important that you give yourself time to relax & not have to worry about your pet. This way your dog is still present at the wedding, your pet is taken care of, and you can enjoy this special day without worries!
